Cold tolerance, balance on ice, and the fitness baseline for Zanskar's frozen river.

Training for the Chadar Trek

The Chadar is not a fitness flex - it is cold management and steady pacing. You walk on uneven ice six to eight hours daily at altitude. Prior trekking experience in winter conditions is strongly recommended.

Train with loaded walks, balance work, and cold exposure. Practice layering systems before Leh - you will adjust on trail, but knowing your own heat regulation saves time.

Medical screening is mandatory on our departures. Previous high-altitude experience helps; previous winter camping experience helps more.
