Why September is our favourite month on the backwaters.

Kerala in the Monsoon: Green, Quiet, and Half the Crowds

Monsoon Kerala is intensely green - rice paddies neon-bright, waterfalls at full volume, houseboats often discounted. Rain comes in bursts; mornings are frequently clear.

Ayurveda resorts run monsoon treatment packages; backwater routes are less congested. Pack a light rain jacket and embrace the rhythm - this is not beach weather, it is immersion weather.

Our houseboat departures in September include flexible routing if water levels shift. The food alone - fresh karimeen and appam - makes the season worthwhile.
